Who's allowed to take away our instincts?

I read this post today by Mommy Needs Coffee and feel compelled to add to this somehow. This is an example I am sure that is shared by many where they did something differently than how they normally would all because they were influenced by some person who felt they were in authority and made judgments. I truly believe that for all those moms and dads out there that work hard to make sound decisions for their children and are of good nature that no one, I mean no one, should stand around and judge them.

Parental instincts are there because you bore that child, you raised that child and you know what is best for them. Unfortunately, in this world there are people out there who feel that you should do like they do, you should follow their rules and conform. And for what? Each situation is different and requires a different looksee. I mean I am not preaching. Trust me, I have conformed myself... upon hearing comments that I should send my son to preschool this year even though I originally had no intentions to do so. He has been in a structured program since 3 months old and I just started staying home, I wanted him to experience learning through me, enjoying toddlerhood and feeling a little freedom. For goodness sake, he will be in school starting next year for another freakin 13-18 years! But I conformed feeling pressured by the many others who gave me their 2 cents (even though I never asked for it) although I decided though to find the middle ground (as I always do) and I only send him for 2 half days each week.
